April 2016 History Round Up

While the world world keeps moving, the history world keeps moving!

Queen Elizabeth II turns 90!! Another milestone for an impressive monarch- longest reigning English monarch and now she is a nonagenarian. Happy Birthday, Your Majesty!

Queen Elizabeth II

Some fairy tales may be 6000 years old! Linguists are currently tracing fairy tales and myths through language, and some may be 2500-6000 years old- maybe it’s time to dust off the old books!

This is a world history timeline that covers a lot of ground, and more events are being added! Spend some time perusing a different century when you have  a few minutes….

The Irish Times purchased a medal of an employee from 1916…. Edward Laurence Keegan was dismissed from his job in sales department of the paper to join the Irish Volunteers, and was shot in the lung. One hundred years, and there are still some constants.

The past never leaves us!

Until tomorrow,
The Historian!

Thank you!! And as big as the world is, it’s still full of weird connections like that 🙂 Unfortunately, my name (Jessica) is rather modern, so I lack cool connections 😦
