My Fraternity Friday series on Greek Life in Canada will resume next week, this week is all about me and Alpha Gam! A lot has been happening, which is fantastic! What exactly has been happening, you ask?
The biggest newest?? I am now an advisor for an Alpha Gam chapter in Michigan! I am the Sisterhood Advisor, which I absolutely love- I was Vice-President Member Development as a collegian, and I think that sisterhood is the most important aspect of Alpha Gamma Delta. The chapter is only a touch bigger than my undergraduate chapter, so I understand the context. I will be forever grateful to Samantha for this opportunity, and I am very much looking forward to working with all of the advisors. My officer is fantastic, and I hope that I can help her whenever she needs it. I know that a lot of chapters have trouble with young advisors being too emotionally involved. I don’t believe this will be a problem for me for two reasons: 1) I am not physically there, and 2) I was not a member of this chapter. I am not emotionally attached to the situation, so I am able to step back and objectively make suggestions. I am quite excited for this year, and I hope it is a successful relationship!
85th planning for Beta Gamma is still moving, albeit slowly. People haven’t been registering; I’m not sure how to take it. Are they just scattered, or is it their way of saying, “We don’t want to come. Please stop talking to us”? I’m hoping it isn’t the latter, but if people don’t start registering soon we are going to have to really look at the organisation. It makes me incredibly sad to think that it’s “four years and then done”. I would think a fun weekend where you just have to show up and enjoy would help bring you back to the organisation, but I seem to be the outlier.
